On June 17, 2026, Josephine Yam, JD, LLM, MA Phil (AI Ethics), CEO & Co-Founder of Skills4Good AI, delivered a featured presentation to the staff of the Embassy of the Philippines in Ottawa and Philippine Consulates across Canada. The virtual session opened with remarks from H.E. Jose Victor V. Chan-Gonzaga, Philippine Ambassador to Canada, and featured two speakers: Karla Congson, CEO & CTO of Agentiiv, and Josephine Yam. The session brought together diplomatic and consular professionals from posts across the country for a focused introduction to artificial intelligence and its responsible use in the workplace.
Josephine’s presentation, titled “AI Without Guardrails: The 4 AI Risks Every Government Professional Must Know,” addressed the four key risks of generative AI in professional settings: hallucinations, privacy breaches, bias, and reasoning gaps. Each risk was grounded in documented real-world cases — including a Canadian lawyer sanctioned for submitting AI-generated court citations that did not exist, and a major professional services firm that cited AI-generated research in a million-dollar government report — and contextualized through use cases specific to consular and diplomatic work.
The session was framed within Canada’s national AI landscape. Canada’s AI for All strategy, launched on June 4, 2026, identifies AI literacy as a national priority — at a time when Canada ranks 44th out of 47 countries on AI literacy and trust, and 67% of Canadians report feeling nervous about AI, the highest rate of any country in the 2026 Ipsos AI Monitor global survey. With nearly one million Filipinos in Canada — projected to grow to up to 2.4 million by 2041 — the session underscored the professional responsibility of consular staff to keep pace with the AI literacy of the community they serve.
The presentation concluded with an introduction to the Responsible AI Audit™ AI Risk Detection Series for Professionals — four accredited courses developed by Skills4Good AI, each mapped directly to one of the four risks presented. The series is accredited by the Law Society of Ontario and recognized by the Government of Canada as an approved AI training provider.
