The rapid rise of artificial intelligence is transforming the accounting profession, bringing both opportunities and challenges.
As a main speaker at CPA Ontario’s Own Your Future Conference, Josephine Yam, CEO & Co-Founder of Skills4Good AI, will share key insights on how CPAs can navigate this shift while upholding ethical standards and future-proofing their careers.
As the CEO of Skills4Good AI, Canada’s top ed-tech platform for Responsible AI upskilling for non-tech professionals, Josephine is on a mission to democratize AI literacy. At the Skills4Good AI Academy, she and her team equip professionals with the knowledge, skills, and community to continuously learn, navigate, and use AI For Good.
Beyond her expertise in AI and ethics, Josephine brings a deeply personal perspective to her work. As a woman, person of color, and immigrant entrepreneur, she understands the challenges of building a career in a new country. Her passion for equity, diversity, and inclusion in AI drives her advocacy for a human-centered approach - one that empowers all professionals to thrive in the digital age.
Her inspiring journey - from immigrant to AI lawyer and entrepreneur - was the subject of her TEDx talk, “How to Right Algorithmic Wrongs.”
Her contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including being named one of RBC’s Top 25 Canadian Immigrants and being featured in the Government of Ontario’s Making It In Canada documentary series, which aired internationally in over 50 countries.
At Own Your Future, Josephine will explore the evolving role of AI in accounting, the risks it presents, and the critical human skills that AI cannot replace. She has previously spoken at CCPAA’s Annual Conference and CCFA’s Annual Gala, guiding finance professionals on how to adapt, lead, and thrive in an AI-powered world. Now, she’s bringing these insights to CPA Ontario.
